Aug 10 We left the country well.....we drove up to the border and played twenty questions with the border guard and after I told him that it had been six years since the last time we had been to Canada we were sent to the bad boy line for background checks. With twenty border patrol standing around doing nothing in a typical government operation, it took thirty minutes to do a quick background check and then we were through. Have a nice day, eh.
So they let us in and we finished driving up to Vancouver. My uncle Terry has lived in the city for many years and in the same apartment since 1987. I've heard lots of stories about his place and I've always want to see it. Here's pics of the day.

The infamous apartment complex. From the corner where I took the picture there is a night club that keeps the neighborhood up all night. |

L-R Patrick, Becky, Terry and Terry's neighbor |
These are views from Terry's rooftop. They have a very nice roof garden. Many of the apartments have gardens and green spaces.

The yellow piles are sulfur. |
After looking at the view from the roof, we drove over to False Creek and went into the Science Center.
|
Saw this car art on the way over. |
|
Outside the science center there is lots of green space and a bike trail that goes all over the city. I never saw so many people riding bicycles to work, for leisure and exercise. Lots of poeple out recreating and enjoying the sunshine. There was a bike counter at the science center that registered when a bike went over top of it. The day before there were 6000+ bikes go over it and today there were almost 5k at five pm. |
We left Vancouver after a full day and were treated to a glorious sunset on the way back to the states.
Thanks Terry for hosting us and showing us around Vancouver. We had a great time and would love to come back and see more of it. Looking forward to the next time!
