Mt Rainier

8/18 We trooped off to Rainier a six hour round trip. We don't like to cover so much ground in a day but we have a good place to keep the camper and we are staying in the area longer so we just made the drive. Sights of the day.

So we were tooling down the road and heard a loud crack. Then as the day progressed, the cracks got longer and longer. Patrick wanted to know what we would do if it broke all the way. I said Becky would kick it out like they do it the movies and we'd drive on home. He asked why he couldn't kick it out.

The river is the driest that anyone can remember backed up behind the dam. They have to let out a certain amount of water each day to keep the water flowing for the fish but it was way down.

They conduct services on every third Sunday at 2:30pm. They stopped services in German after WWII.

See the next blog post for the scoop on this great place.

Upper Falls
Patrick always finds something to climb.

This is the right side of the bridge

The left side of the bridge.

The side of this mountain is covered in multicolored rocks left when the lava cooled at different temperatures. Its pretty spectacular to see how nature works.
These pics are my view of the falls from the top.

B & P left of the tree standing close together.

Their view of the falls from the lower vantage point.
From here we worked our way up to Paradise. This part of the road ranked in the top five scenic drives that we have made. Just awesome.
Paradise Visitors Center.

This is my new screen saver just need to get rid of that lady standing there.
This was the road leaving Paradise heading out to 123.
Over there on that switchback is where we took the above picture from.
We drove out of the park, got some BBQ in one of the little towns and then made tracks back to the trailer. Agony in thick traffic with a sixty mph speed limit on a six lane highway. I hate driving around Seattle.
