Changes in Scenery

10/30 We picked up the Tahoe after getting it fixed. I was right. It was the front differential pinion seal. They replaced the seal, filled the differential with fluid and cleaned up the bottom of the car to remove the old oil. Also I had them fix a few minor issues that I didn't want to do. It was an easy fix and I was glad it wasn't more.

10/31 We left Casa Grande RV and headed north and east. I have to say that we enjoyed our time at Casa Grande and would easily return there for a longer stay. It isn't near any good scuba diving but it is nice and warm there over the winter. This winter looks like it will be nice and wet there if you believe the El Nino weather forecasts.
Becky and I spent some time going around about what we wanted to do and eventually we decided that we would head back to Ohio. It was a matter of how long we wanted to take to get there and which direction we were going to go.
Becky wanted to meet some a friend that she made on the site Ravelry who lives near Tulsa, OK so that was the direction that we headed. Today's travels took us north out of Casa Grande on 60. In March of 2014 we stopped in Casa Grande to see the Grande house built by the Hohokom.
I had no idea how far we would get so we just headed up 60 until it was time to stop.
What I love about Arizona is the diversity of the scenery and nature. We went from Casa Grande surrounded by saguaros, sage, teddy bear chollas, and prickly pear cactus to mountains covered in pines. You can water ski, snow ski and go four wheeling. Only the scuba diving is lacking but there are opportunities for that.
A little north of where you see the time stamp for the trip is the Salt River Canyon. Arizona may have the Grand Canyon in the north that everyone knows about but the state is covered in smaller canyons that are just as beautiful.

At the bottom of the canyon, the road crosses the river. There is a rest area and you can walk across the old road bridge to look at the scenery. I didn't realize that until we were driving across and of course there were no places to turn around or stop. The scenery was incredible and the road was phenomenal.

Looking back west. The sun glare got the best of the pics.

We ended the evening in the tiny town of Springerville. There was a tiny RV park where we could spend the night. It was rather chilly at the high elevations.
