When I was ten, my family did a two week vacation around the state of Wisconsin. We camped in tents and traveled in an old station wagon. I have a lot of good memories from that trip and we seem to be tracing some of the same route. The Dells is one of those stops our trips have in common.
We finished the trip at Stand Rock Campground
With steak, potatoes, corn, and beer
August 8 The Dells
The tour company had at least seven boats that I counted and this is our lovely guide, Abby, a junior at the local high school. Our captain was Hannah, a junior at one of the University of Wisconsin branches. They each had really cheesy jokes to tell based on their scripts. Lots of good information too.
Indian Chief Black Hawk
Chimney Rock
Our first stop on the tour was Witch's Gulch, named because the water looks like a witch's cauldron. It was all accessible.
The next stop was Stand Rock. The famous jumping dog makes the leap across the five foot gap. At one time the tourist could make the jump, then the guides made the jump and finally just the dog.
Some parts of this stop were steep.
Toad stool rock
Visor rock
Headed back down river to the docks.
After the boat ride, we walked around town and had a bite to eat.
Patrick took a self guided tour of this place because he is into all that wizards and fantasy kind of stuff. Becky and I had ice cream, don't tell him.

The boat tour looks like a lot of fun, especially the trail through the rocks. Is it really as accessible as it looks?
It was all accessible! I needed a push to get up the hill at Stand Rock but it was all paved and worth the visit!
Thanks, I'll put in on our list of places to visit!
